Decked in holiday cheer, now is the perfect time to explore San Diego. San Diego RV Resort has compiled some holiday season favorites in “America’s Finest City!” From tree lightings to ice skating there is something for everyone this winter season.

Day 1: Let There Be (Holiday) Lights!

Nothing gets you into the spirit of the season like holiday lights! Holiday cheer takes to the water with the 46th Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights on December 10th and 17th. We recommend taking time to explore the bustling downtown and indulging your taste buds in the popular neighborhood of Little Italy. (Don’t forget a traditional Italian Christmas cookie while you’re there!) From Little Italy, head a few blocks west to the bayfront and enjoy the festive floating display.

Day 2: Holiday Bowl

With direct access to the San Diego Trolley, traveling from San Diego RV Resort to the college bowl game is a cinch. The Holiday Bowl is played at Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley only a short trip with the trolley. For more details on the game check out our page below. We invite you to book your stay early to secure the best spots for the game.

Day 3: Festive Family Fun

San Diego’s big three area attractions; SeaWorld San Diego, San Diego Zoo and Legoland California, all feature fantastic holiday shows that entertain children of all ages. Leaving San Diego RV Resort via the trolley, head straight to the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Looking for animals of a more aquatic kind? SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration marks the return of SnowWorld, a million holiday lights, and special holiday shows!

If you’ve got a Lego fan in your family, head to Legoland’s Holiday Snow Days! Your family can enjoy all the fun of Legoland PLUS real snow, sledding and more! Each night, the park lights up the sky with the World’s largest Lego Christmas tree!

The San Diego Zoo has their annual holiday event, Jungle Bells. During Jungle Bells, the San Diego Zoo is transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Guests enjoy lighted animal sculptures, live animal presentations, festive music, holiday treats, storytelling, and, of course, Santa Claus.

Spend the holidays on the ice in San Diego

Nothing like skating under the sun at the Viejas Outlet Center Ice Skating Rink

Day 4: Ice Skating in Sunny San Diego

Ice skating at the beach? Oh, yes! Spend a beach day soaking up the sun and playing in the sand at the pristine Coronado Beach. When you’ve had enough, walk just steps to the historic Hotel Del Coronado for Skating by the Sea.

The other top spot for seasonal ice skating is the Viejas Outlet Ice Skating rink in El Cajon. This is the largest outdoor skating rink in Southern California. After taking to the ice you can also get your holiday shopping down at the outlet center.

How about ice skating for a good cause. The Rady Children’s Hospital Fantasy on Ice is a great spot. Located in Liberty Station, you can skate under the stars and help those in need. This is another seasonal spot so be sure to visit before they’re gone.

Another great spot for holiday skating is the Salvation Army Kroc Center Ice Arena. This location is a year-round skating rink with eight public sessions and also lessons for those just lacing up for the first time. The price is also the lowest out of all of these. We recommend this location to all our guest.

Day 5: Take in a Holiday Parade

The holiday season is ripe with parades, and San Diego is no exception! You will not want to miss the Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights happening on December 10th and 17th. Our biggest holiday parade has got to be the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade on December 28th. Be sure to take the trolley downtown to avoid any traffic headaches.
